A Box of Prayers

Welcome! This is the last Thursday of the month. This will conclude our goals theme for the month of January.

So to conclude, I would like to end by stressing how important it is to pray when you set your goals. The last piece of the puzzle involves giving your goals to God and letting God bring your goals to pass through prayer.

Mark 11:24 says,"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

There is power in prayer. There is also power in writing things down. So realizing this, I thought, why not combine the two things together? I'm always looking for creative and unique ways to approach a given subject.

Recently I've been researching prayer boxes, and decided that it might be fun to share with you the idea of creating your own prayer box to store your goals.

What is a Prayer Box?

A prayer box is a physical place where you can store your written prayers. Your prayer box doesn't have to be anything fancy (or it could be fancy if you want it to be). It's totally up to you. You might want to go to the Dollar Store and buy a decorative box. You may decide that you want to decorate an old shoe-box. The purpose is to create a special place to keep your written prayers.

On the outside of your box you may want to write encouraging scriptures, or post inspirational pictures on your box, etc. Use your creativity. Have fun with this.

How to Use Your Prayer Box:

1. Think about your goals. Decide what you want.
2. Write your goals down on a piece of paper.
3. Fold the paper up and put it in your prayer box.
4. Thank God for bringing your goals to pass according to His will.
5. Anytime you look at your prayer box, let it serve as a reminder to thank God for blessings that are on the way.

A Project of faith

Using a prayer box is a project of faith. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).  When you can thank God in advance for answering your prayers, this shows tremendous faith.

Let Go and Let God

The physical act of writing your goals down and releasing them in your prayer box, serves as a symbolic reminder of how we must let go and let God. Let your prayer box serve as a reminder to trust God.

At the end of the year, you may want to go back and read through your prayers to see how God has answered them. Happy goal setting!!! Don't forget to give your goals to God.

See you next Thursday!!!!

Goals + God = Good Things

Happy Thursday!

In keeping up with the "goals" theme for the month; I decided to blog about God and goals. It's so important that we keep God involved in all of our plans. Do you agree? Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." So before we set goals or make plans, it's important that we consult with God.

Here are a few scriptures to consider regarding this subject:

  • Matthew 7:7 says, "Ask and it will be given to you."
  • Mark 11:24 says, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
  • James 2:17 says, "Faith by itself if it does not have works, is dead."
  • Psalm 37:5 says, Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."
  • Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength."
  • Philippians 3:13-14 says, "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
So in summary, we should consult with God. Ask for what we want. Believe that we're going to receive it. Work for it. Trust God. Wait on Him and keep the faith. Goals + God = Good Things.

Be blessed. Until next Thursday, good-bye!!!!!

Goal Setting: The Magic Question

Thanks for stopping by! :) Here is blog post #2. Woo Hoo! This is an article that I wrote a couple of years ago. I thought it would be helpful to share; especially since this is the time of year that many people are setting new goals. Please enjoy! Feel free to leave a comment, or pass this along to your friends. See you next Thursday!

Goal Setting: The Magic Question

Is there such a thing as a magic question? I think so. I believe there is one question that is simple, yet so profound that if answered correctly, it could change your life forever. It is the key to true success. It can be used over and over again to help you realize your dreams. Every accomplishment, great or small, begins with this one basic question.

Are you ready for it? The magic question is: what do you want? There you have it. It’s as simple as can be. Figuring out what you want is the first step to achieving any goal.

I’m sure you’re probably thinking, “But that’s common sense.” Most things in life are. It doesn’t mean that common sense isn’t worth repeating, right? This question is so important that once you answer it, things will begin to happen in your life as if by magic.

There is power involved in answering this question. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “You have to see it to believe it.” Well, let me go a step further and say that you’ll never be able to see it until you know what it is that you want. Knowing what you want is the single most important step to success.

Knowing what you want is not wishful thinking, but rather heartfelt desire. In order for something to come to pass, you have to truly have a desire for it.

We’ve all seen the man who appears to be blowing in the wind. He runs around with half-digested thoughts, scattering his energy; he jumps from job to job, relationship to relationship, leaving behind a trail of despair and unfinished business. Part of the reason for his failure is that he doesn’t know what he truly wants.

Now on the other hand, the man who knows what he wants is a force to be reckoned with. He is on a mission. He focuses his energy. He sets clear goals for himself, because he’s learned that you cannot create a better tomorrow unless you realize what you want today. Once you figure out what you want, the battle is half won.

This is not to say that just because you know what you want, you’re always going to get what you want. But it’s definitely a step in the right direction. Just knowing what you want puts you ahead of the game.

So today I urge you: put it to the test. Figure out what you want, then match your desire with determination and watch your dreams come true—just like magic.

A New Thing for the New Year!

My name is Tanya Guerrier, or you can call me Florin. Welcome to my blog! I'm doing a new thing for the new year. This year I will attempt to blog! I must confess, this isn't my first attempt at blogging. It's actually my second attempt. I failed miserably the first time. Why? Because I never blogged!!!! I had two posts in two years. Shameful... So perhaps the second time around will be the charm. :)

This time around, I'm going to do things differently. First off, I'm going to set goals for myself. To be successful, it's important to have goals, right?

Okay, so here are my blog goals:

1. I will blog at least once a week on Thursdays.
2. I will provide useful and inspirational posts to the best of my abilities.
3. I will keep it light-hearted and fun as much as possible.
4. I will have a good attitude.

Simple. I'm taking small steps. I'm looking to make progress.

Lastly you'll notice that my blog doesn't look very fancy. That's only because I don't really know what I'm doing. *smile.* I can admit it. This is a learning process for me. I'm learning as I go. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone. I'm doing a new thing for the new year. Happy 2013!

*Please note: If you ever decide to leave me a comment, you will always get a response. I do believe in showing love. *hugs*  Feel free to wish me luck! Thanks for reading!!!!
